It is difficult to imagine a more appropriate moment to design new business models: the experiences just lived are still vivid, strong, disruptive and emotionally stimulate creativity, and our daily lives continually remind us of the urgent need for change; last but not least, we should be ready for “business doing” as soon as new financial resources, discussed nowadays by politicians, are available.
In terms of business modeling, my invitation is to make a qualitative leap concerning the environmental sustainability, in those realities (e.g. the facility management sector) also in which the references are already quite innovative, such as Waste Management Systems and the 3R Models (Re-use, Reduce & Re-cycle). Since years we have been improving down-stream material flows and modified user/operator behavior. It is not enough anymore: the next sustainable business model innovation is primarily focused on the up-stream phase, on the design of products, services, processes and organizations, moving from waste recycling strategy to the circular economy without waste (Andrew Morlet, Ellen MacArthur Foundation).
Today's challenge is the CEBM (Circular Economy Business Model), the transformation from linear to circular strategies, from the commercial value proposition based on the concept of abundance of the offer to that optimized on SUFFICIENCY, for different stakeholders along with the offering life-cycle.
The new business models are not the old ones colored green, but they are authentically NEW ... as concepts, tools and solutions for Sustainability Makers.
This time the contribute goes to the SDGs 13, 14, 15.
SUSTAINABILITY MAKERS II

One of our Change Management Projects, extremely pragmatic, was recently managed for a leading Customer in the b2b services sector and fully included in the Company’s Sustainability Report.
The objective of the Project was to innovate internal processes and technical, design and management skills related to the development of complex and sustainable offers for the public and private market (bid management), as well as to the service design and customer experience management. The structuring of the Project was functional to achieving the aforementioned objectives, in a relatively short time, and was based on the integration of four parallel activities: Team Learning Workshops, Individual Mentoring, Knowledge System Building and Real Project Management (SUSTAINABILITY MAKING).
The chosen methodological approach, NUDGING, based on the theory of the Nobel Prize Richard Thaler, has contributed in a consistent, flexible and motivating way to the acquisition of new knowledge and skills, as well as to the innovation of design tools/techniques, especially through the integration of design thinking, creative thinking and sustainable value proposition modeling methodologies.
The project was implemented in full alignment with the United Nations SDG 04 (quality education), SDG 09 (industry, innovation and infrastructure) and SDG 12 (responsible consumption and production).
